It's a swap meet for plant enthusiasts, a place to score new acquisitions for your garden at no or low cost.

Gardeners show up to seed exchanges with envelopes and jars filled with seed to trade and lots of anticipation. What intriguing new variety will they come away with this time?

“I remember the first time I got a red flowering fava bean was at a seed exchange. There's always something interesting that shows up,” said Doug Gosling, a dedicated seed saver who oversees the gardens at the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center and Food for Thought in Forestville.
